The 2020 Helen & Rolf Illsley Scholarship is awarded to Samuel Peana.
Samuel is a Ph.D. student from USA studying Electrical Engineering at Purdue University. His thesis research project is to create the world’s first hybrid platform combining plasmonic optical devices with shape memory alloys.
Samuel writes, “Before anything else, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am very excited to put these funds to work!… In addition to the financial support and just as critical is the moral support that this award provides. The fact that SVC Foundation and the Helen and Rolf Illsey Foundation have deemed my work worthy of support is a big encouragement to keep fighting through all the difficulties and trials involved in doing original work. I hope to make the SVC and Helen and Rolf Illsey Foundation proud!”
